Who or what is waveofjoy?Waveofjoy is Shannon's online name (you know, when you have to come up with a screen name for a new e-mail account, and all the variations of your name are taken?). It became the name of this site, even though it is about the whole family, because it fits. Whether you see it as us waving at you with joy, or as a feeling swelling up inside of you, we hope seeing our family's site brings you a wave of joy.
What is the point of this website?Shannon had a website, Wandering Fairy, that she enjoyed tinkering with in the late 1990s. She taught herself the language of HTML, and used a web tv unit to put photos of her flowers and such online. Now we have a computer, but this site is still all just simple HTML and Shannon's use there of. The point is to share with family and friends a bit of what we're up to. Shannon still has her photos and babblings on here. This is a spare time project, so although we try to keep it current, it may fall behind from time to time.
Why and how did you become one of Jehovah's Witnesses?Shannon's story: My mother always stressed to me the importance of worshiping God. I was raised Catholic, and went to a Catholic school for most of my elementary years. I have many vivid memories of Mom reading the Bible every morning before she got up. As time went on, I noted her frustration with our church. When I went out on my own at age 17, I stopped going to church. After a couple years of marraige, I found myself searching. Lee had many friends of many different religions, and I was searching for the "right" one to raise our boys up in. Around this time, a wonderful lady started calling on me. We had many discussions about the Bible. After my mother passed away, I decided to really start studying the Bible with the Witnesses. What they taught was all in the Bible. For the first time, I had true answers as to the meaning of life, why there is so much suffering, and what God wants and will do for me. Lee soon started studying as well. Now our whole family is happily serving God.
